Gating strategy for the identification of inflammatory cell populations in airways and lung tissue. Lung and airway cell suspensions were stained with a viability dye (Live / dead NIR) and antibodies to surface markers followed by analysis by flow cytometry. (a) Live, (b) single, (c) haematopoietic (CD45+) cells were selected. Within this population, (d, e) AMs were defined as CD64 + CD11c + SiglecF + cells and (f) within the remaining cells, neutrophils were defined as CD11b + Ly6G + cells.
